Quagga Purchases Smith Networks PDF Print E-mail

Smith NetworksFolsom, CA – Quagga, Inc. today announced the purchase of Smith Networks, a Data Network Systems Integrator headquartered in Sacramento, CA.

The addition of Smith Networks gives Quagga a stronger data network services and support team focused primarily on Cisco, Extreme, Microsoft and VMware solutions. The acquisition is part of Quagga’s overall plan to make strategic acquisitions to enhance its presence and serve its growing base Fortune 500 customers. Smith Networks brings outstanding sales and technical resources to Quagga which will result a more powerful end to end solution set.

If we’re speaking candidly, we at Quagga, America’s fastest growing IP Telephony systems integrator, are downright giddy about our recent acquisition of Smith Networks. Who in God’s name is Smith Networks you ask? Let’s put it this way: Les Smith, owner and founder of Smith Networks, is to routing and switching what Gabe Kaplan was to Welcome Back Kotter. Yes, he’s that good.

Here’s how this all came down. Quagga lost a deal to Smith Networks. Quagga became enraged. Quagga dispatched an envoy on horseback to establish communication with Les Smith. A relationship was struck over wild grains and free range beef. Quagga outsourced Smith Networks to implement several large Cisco and Extreme Networks implementations in Northern California and Phoenix. Quagga fell in love with Smith Networks. Quagga acquired Smith Networks.

What does this mean for Quagga customers? We asked this very question to Ken Apperson, Quagga’s Chief Visionary Officer (CVO), as he was polishing his plaque from Inc. Magazine recognizing Quagga as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in America for the second consecutive year. “I’m very pleased you asked me this question.” said Ken Apperson. “The acquisition of Smith Networks is hugely strategic for us in that it brings collectively more than a hundred years of enterprise level Cisco and Microsoft experience in house. In addition to implementing and supporting Avaya and LifeSize solutions, Quagga now can do the same with other best of breed manufacturers such as Juniper, Extreme and Cisco.”

At this point we walked out of Ken’s office because he has a tendency to ramble.
